We’ll be hanging out as well, most likely hovering over the free food and drink, but we’ll have a new issue of This Is The End to hand out along with back issues as well as some earlier zines. In addition, we’re very happy to say our recent co-conspirator Natalie Wahlberg will have copies of a brand new zine called The Transformative Nature of Social Change. Show up at 6pm, stick around to 11pm and be sure to hit up the afterparty at Villains Chicago.
]]>This is the “Status of the Apocalypse.” Millions of people across the globe are Facebook users and if I were a betting man, I’d say they’re probably on Twitter, Tumblr and plenty of other places. So what happens when the news starts filtering in that the world is collapsing? What do we tell our friends, our family and most importantly, our “followers?” For that matter, what do Glenn Beck, Barak Obama, Snooki, Nancy Pelosi or the Pope tell the confused and shrieking masses? The comet might be coming down, the planet might be boiling, nuclear bombs may be exploding – but the internet is still working.
Tell me in no more than three sentences or 140 characters what you’re telling your friends or what you think others are telling the internet at the end of the world. The best dozen or so (depending on responses) will be worked into my piece and read at the next Liquid Burning of Apocalyptic Bard Letters reading on September 9th and then reposted right here at www.diatribemedia.com. You can submit as many as you like. Tell your friends too! Send all submissions to [email protected]

]]>On February 21st, we hosted our first Diatribe Media/Loop Distro reading at the world’s best bookstore – Quimby’s in Chicago. A ton of people came out and watched some fantastic zinesters read – and even got to witness a marriage proposal! Andrew Mall, author of Living Proof zine, proposed right in the middle of his reading. Many congrats to the happy couple! The evening was spectacular, featuring hilarious pieces from Matt Fagan, Rachel Reyrey, Liz Mason, and Andrew Mall. Our very own Billy and Aaron hosted – also reading short pieces found right here on this site. Below are pictures from the event in case you missed out. Be sure to keep checking back for more fantastic events and video footage of the reading.

While the most recent issue of his zine Living Proof is a year and a half old, he is currently editing the next issue with hopes for a late spring release.
Matt Fagan: Matt Fagan is a zinester and artist from Oregon who now lives in Chicago. He runs Meniscus Enterprises, out of which he publishes his zines and comics. Matt is also the co-owner of a comic book store called Brainstorm.
